Must Try Wings in Delaware County (Delco) - Foodie Life Mac

Yerrrrp! (A Philly Hello) Foodies!..If you are like me then you love a list when it comes to almost anything. I feel like it just gives you a starting point and something to reference. You may agree or disagree. You may have better selections in your eyes but at least you know somebody or many people think highly of that place or item which usually makes them worth checking out.

Since I rarely find articles, reviews, or lists on the Delaware County (Delco), food scene or restaurants, I figured I’d put my money where my mouth is and make my own. You know, don’t talk about it, be about it. This started out as a Top 5 wings in Delaware County, a county that borders Philadelphia to the West and South West, list but may just be a “Must Try- Wings” list. Well without, further ado, here are the spots I recommend if you want some really good sauced wings. Buffalo or otherwise.. Fried or otherwise.. Wing Dings or Party wings only. Not whole wings

Brick and Brew

(Original Confit Wings - Slow braised in duck fat, brown butter hot sauce, gorgonzola, celery)

I ain’t even gonna hold you. I had these wings a few months back and thought they were pretty good. For some reason I wanted them again and let me tell you, these wings are DELICIOUS and TENDER. The buffalo sauce is decent, but had plenty better and these still stand out. The flavor is infused all the way through these wings and they are fall off the bone tender.

They may not have the crisp that some of you crave but they are amazing.

Not Just Wings

I’ve heard that they’re the best in The County and I’ve also heard that they are hit or miss..Well my take is that they Hit! Hit! Hit! Something different. They are a nice size, adequately sauced with over saucing, cooked all the way through and still juicy. They offer a variety of sauces but the Cam Newton’s are a consensus favorite, blending their hot sauce with Carolina bbq, they create an amazing sweet and slightly spicy comboniation. 😋 I feel like a lot of places under season their chicken and rely on the sauce and outer coating but the wings here are well seasoned all the way through.

Fibbers

Fibbers “House Wings” and Fries😍. Just a few years ago you could get these County staples for just $5 during lunch hours but sadly 😢 nothin lasts forever.

These wings have been a Delco (and West Philly for that matter) favorite for many years. They are average to slightly below average in size but the lite char and “House” sauce keeps people coming back and happy.

Hunt’s Annex Lounge

Multiple Philly Wing Festival Award Winner and another Delco favorite, Hunt’s Annex Lounge knows how to cook some wings. Get them tossed in your sauce of choice and admire..no devour these skillfully cooked, crispy yet tender wings.

Verona Pizza

I’ve heard from many that these are their favorite wings in the County. They have their own traditional buffalo sauce which is spicy and tasty. Although very traditional, they still have a uniqueness about their blend. Think heat not sweet. Give these meaty wings a try.

Vision’s

Some of my favorite wings without the fanfare are from Visions in Yeadon . I swear the barbecue is like KFC ‘s Honey Bbq sauce but on QUALITY WINGS. The buffalo is a little sweet with a spice kick, certainly not traditional. Call them buffalo or sweet and spicy, just make sure you call them delicious as well. Deep fried until crisp and juicy and tossed in sauce right in front of you. I order both flavors every time! Love em 😋

bb.q Chicken

bbqChicken is a South Korean franchise that was established in 1995 and spread globally. They offer some of the crispiest chicken you will find so my EXTRA CRISPY lovers, these wings are for you. The crispy chicken skin starts with a two-day prep process that includes marination, battering, breading and frying. They fry the chicken in Olive Oil for a healthier yet distinct taste.
